| hello there,
it has been a while since i've last blogged. a LONNGG while. i guess it's a good thing - because it means i'm spending my time doing other things (......aka studying/napping/streaming shows online) but i can't believe it's practically a year later since i've last posted anything. 1 year later - 1 year to go.
i guess things haven't changed much since last year - still studying. still trying to find a job. still living in the same house and eating the same food (i'm getting kinda bored of my food actually!!!). but i guess this year, i've been able to gain a deeper perspective on what life might look like here in calgary. i've been able to become better friends with certain people here; i've learned that no matter how much one studies, the evaluation methods will always be wack (or so i convince myself); and this year - i'm learning that you're bound by the impossible - but it's up to you to make things possible [this is more of a lesson i am learning this month...].
anyways. some thoughts? i'm slowly becoming more 'relaxed' about the possibility of not finding a law-related job this summer. this doesn't take away the anxiety i feel about the articling application process coming up right after exams, but there is a strange calm i feel when i realize i might have to 'make do' this summer with anything i can find. i've committed myself to an utlimate frisbee league this year. last year - my reasoning for not going was because i didn't have a car. i didn't have a way to get around. i also worked two jobs and figured it wouldn't be worth the scheduling conflicts, etc. well that meant that i brought my cleats to calgary for NOTHING because i didn't play a single game in this darned city - and only got playtime when i went back to toronto for my 2 week vacation. this year, my perspective is different. i'm going to end up with the job i end up with - i might as well structure my time with experiences this summer worth remembering.
i guess i'll post up some summer goals after the exam rush - but some things i would like to enjoy this summer: learning new recipes, taking my blades out more often (and getting wayyy better at them), achieving (and maintaing?) a wickked tan, enjoying the summer weathers and planning for my exchange to oslo, norway.
yep! i have a great deal to look forward to this summertimes. =).
time to continue trucking on my forever-long internet law essay. .
till next time,

| hehee.
i noticed the picture on my xanga doesn't even look like how i look anymore. it's me - FIVE YEARS AGO!. what i would give to be that young again. the decisions i would make if i could do undergrad ALL OVER AGAIN!!! ( --> not take brain and behaviour... ).
so working at the keg is quickly losing its 'novel' appeal. the people i work with have become 'real' shall we say - and there is much more cattyness and sulking than i anticipated. puts a downer on the night. i've gone from being willing to take shifts and stay on for extra hours - to wanting to get rid of shifts and sometimes downgrading my hours.
BLEH!.
on another note: i like working out. am working furiously to achieve that 'beach body' even though there are no beaches in calgary. why? because on the off chance that i do go away for the weekend (like, to a friend's cabin) - i would like to not be self-conscious of my one-flab wonder. =). i went tubing for the very first time last weekend and it wass awwwweeeesome. emboldened by my darkened skin, i tried to sit outside and tan yesterday to no avail. it was waayyy to hot. but today is a new day and alas i shall try again!
life is boring. i like the summer days tho!

| randoms from:
working at the keg:
1) having an elvis 'entertainer' hired to sing to a retirement party. having the retirement party give us 'tude because our GM didn't tell us this entertainer was coming. having tables around the party leave when elvis starts singing. having an elderly man giggle and say 'elvis has left the building' as 'the entertainer' packs up shop and leaves.
2) having a party of 27 ppl come in, stay for 4 hours and then yell at the poor server when they ask for separated bills AFTER they get the full one. smrt people. reaaalll smrt.
3) having an elderly lady hug me and tell me i'm a dear before and after her dinner, for taking a feather out of her glasses frame!
4) having azn 'gangsta' dudes + 1 gangsta girl ask server to ask me to join them for a drink (too bad i've already finished my shift and bizzounced) but then learning these gangsta kids ordered the 2 most expensive bottles of wine in the house + several courses, only to tip $9.
living in calgary:
1) sun doesn't set until like 10:30 . how crazy and amazing is that?!?!
2) yesterday there was a football game near my house. we got a fireworks display after. that was quite cool as well!!!
3) running by the river here and noticing the non-existent 'gag-smell' that you'd usually get from walking by lake ontario
things to do:
1) pick up a pair of rollerblades to go exploring around the city 2) take tennis lessons. hopefully. 3) do more hiiikkkinnnnggg. 4) be less pasty. 5) shower time. now.
. ciao.

| awesomeness is:
1) your mom telling you she bought a wii, and then asking you if you know what it is 2) watching so you think you can dance to catch star moments: some amaazing dancing (though some not) and then having nigel tell a lyrical white-boy dancer that his granma can 'hit it harder' than him in a krunk dance routine (and then watching nigel try to be gangsta) 3) when you call into westjet and ask whether you can get a further discounted price thats on their site now (you paid about $50 more) and switch a flight date for your return trip and they tell you, "sure, it'll cost $40 to do that but you will still have a $50 credit..) i may have bad math skills because i'm not sure where the extra $50 comes from but i sure as heck don't mind

| small note:
today i went hiking in heart mountain with a friend. it was great for the most part - and the weather really held off for us - because it started raining just as we were heading to the parking lot. weather conditions? a little bit of sun, cloudiness, snow up top, sunshine and then rain to round it all off.
i had soaked shoes the whole descent because we had decided to be adventurous and go down a different way than we had come up, only to find that tracks the 'mountain man' had left us in the snow didn't seem to be going DOWN the mountain anytime soon, but rather around other mountains (we decided this after an hour of following his footsteps in ankle deep snow). so we went another hour or so back the way we came (in snow) and then down the mountain from the way we came up.
i thought today would have been a good day to re-introduce my pasty legs to the sun (remembering how nicely tanned my legs turned out after a week of hiking in the adironacks). because today's hike was a lot shorter, and there was lots of cloud coverage - i decided not to paste on the sunscreen (with the exception of my special face blocker). my legs and half my neck now looks like the lobster my mouth waters for when i work at the keg. =(. oh and that tingly burning feeling all over. *sniff*.
at least my legs aren't pasty anymore... i guess... =P
thanks friends! talk soon
